It is of my greatest pleasure to be awarded with the Scholarship. On behalf of all the preceding awardees and, of course, myself, I must first express our deepest gratitude here, towards Mr. & Mrs. Tong for their generous donations over the past decade, encouraging students from each of the secondary schools under the Hong Kong Taoist Association to strive for excellence in their studies. To me, this Scholarship is not only a kind of financial support, but also a form of respectable honour. That is why many, if not all, students in our school also aim at the award.

I must also express my gratitude towards my teachers. Without their devotion to teaching, I would not have succeeded in getting such satisfactory results. Besides teachers, peers also take up an important part in my sixth-form life. Throughout these two years, I have met many new friends, all of which are good companions in pursuing a shared vision - that is to be admired into a university course.

Most importantly, I must hereby acknowledge the support from my parents and my family members. It is their support which allows me to face my AL exams without having great pressure. I must also give thanks to my Lord, for He has given me an optimistic character and taken me through my secondary school life, so that I was able to matriculate, with peace, and with joy.

As an undergraduate student now, I am ready to face many challenges in a new environment. For my Alma mater has laid foundation for me by building up my life morally, intellectually, physically, socially and aesthetically, I believe I will be able to cope with my university life.

Lastly, I would like to end my sharing with a quote, which is the motto of my college - Chung Chi College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong: “Ad Excellentiam” (止於至善). This motto is adopted from the “Great Learning” (《大學》) which reminds us that “the way of ultimate wisdom is the comprehension of absolute integrity, genial development of the common people and endless pursuit of the perfection of humanities” (大學之道,在明明德,在親民,在止於至善) (English translation adopted from the website of Chung Chi College, CUHK). Hopefully such a motto would be able to become our attitude towards various stages in our life.。
